Les projets d’Olga Kisseleva reposent sur une recherche approfondie et nécessitent une préparation rigoureuse. La période du COVID-19 lui a offert l’opportunité de travailler sur le comportement des virus. C’est ainsi qu’est née une nouvelle édition de son projet Power Struggle. Cette œuvre en cours a été initiée en 2011 dans le cadre d’une commande pour l’exposition « Red Cavalry: Creation and Power in Soviet Russia between 1917 and 1945 » à la Tate Modern et à La Casa Encendida. L’artiste y étudie les similitudes entre le comportement des virus et celui des êtres humains dans des situations de conflit ou de difficulté, telles que décrites par la théorie des jeux.
Au cœur de la pandémie, alors que l’attention du monde se concentre sur le virus et son comportement, l’artiste lance une nouvelle série de performances. Elle y invite des spécialistes de premier plan dans les domaines touchés par la crise – médecine, virologie, biologie, mais aussi finance, politique et culture – à commenter les confrontations virales comme s’il s’agissait de divergences appliquées à leur propre champ.
