Rotting From Within takes the form of a family album turned into architecture. Kircher enlarges photographs, texts, and archival material into a nine-metre wall where images of intimacy collide with the lasting effects of patriarchy and violence. The absent father is not filled in by an explanation: his absence organizes the distances between fragments and makes each photograph a possible projection rather than proof. The precise montage preserves the vulnerability of private material without turning it into spectacular confession. The work asks whether repair can begin before a family history is complete—and who must make the first move.
