Michail Pirgelis — HYLE (2026)

Aircraft fragments lose their function without entirely losing the memory of travel.

Michail Pirgelis — HYLE (2026)

At Kunstraum Dornbirn, HYLE brings together components from decommissioned aircraft in 2026. Through dismantling, sanding and polishing, Michail Pirgelis transforms them into sculptures. Their surfaces retain clues to their industrial origins even when their arrangement approaches abstraction.

The exhibition invites us to consider matter after use. These remnants can be read as witnesses to a promise of mobility whose infrastructure outlives the journeys it once enabled.
