In Aeolian Suite, five kinetic sound sculptures turn Venice’s winds into characters. Their furry coverings recall the windscreens used to shield microphones; here, however, wind is not filtered out but welcomed as material, performer, and unpredictable force.
A sixteen-minute score combines wind machines, recorders, sounds captured in Venice and Helsinki, and a year of meteorological data from the Gulf of Venice. The installation shifts the question of control: measuring the atmosphere does not mean possessing it, especially when the technical systems that forecast weather also help destabilise it. Created for the Pavilion of Finland at the 2026 Venice Biennale, the work remains on view through 22 November 2026.
