A beam of light meets a shallow layer of water and unfolds into shifting reflections. In Sunbeam, Captured, Boris Acket and Sabine Marcelis reconstruct a fleeting appearance of sunlight: actuators move the water while a coloured mirror modulates its light. The mechanism does not freeze an image; it prolongs the conditions of a moment that, in nature, would already have disappeared.
