In Duotopia, digital architecture gathers around Oz, a hybrid avatar whose tentacles blur the distinction between organism and machine. At the Kunstmuseum Basel, these images meet a physical play space: purple light, inflatable forms and a ball pit give bodily scale to a world designed for the screen. The move from virtual space to installation poses a concrete question: how can we inhabit an environment that also changes our idea of the body?

Artist. Born in Guangzhou in 1978 and based in Beijing, Cao Fei works with video, digital media, installation, photography and sculpture. Her fictional worlds examine how technological and social transformation shapes everyday lives.
