Nik Wallbaum hacks a cathode-ray television to convert an audio signal directly into a luminous figure. The image does not illustrate the music; it is the electrical event of sound, inscribed in the path of a beam.
In this performance installation, the obsolete device becomes instrument, screen and unstable score at once. Lissajous makes a usually hidden relation between frequency, voltage and movement perceptible, while keeping the material risk of the apparatus at the centre of the experience.
