Rose Lowder — La Source de la Loire (2019–2021), Palais de Tokyo, Paris

Frame-by-frame construction turns a river into a field of forces where perception, labour and ecology cannot be separated.

La Source de la Loire (2019–2021), a 16 mm film, builds the landscape frame by frame instead of merely recording it. Reflections, stones and current become a discontinuous weave: nature appears as the material activity of looking.

Palais de Tokyo, Paris, presents “La source de la Loire et autres films” from 21 October 2026, curated by François Piron; this documentation was posted on 30 September 2026. Rose Lowder is an experimental filmmaker whose practice has questioned nature and the economy of cinematic labour since the 1970s.
