A visitor sits on a stool under the gaze of a camera. The system then states with confidence who they are, what they feel and what they want. Spot On turns algorithmic recognition into an intimate encounter in which a computed description can appear both precise and profoundly arbitrary.
Presented at Ars Electronica 2026, the installation asks not only whether a machine can know us, but what its authority produces when it already claims to do so. Portraiture becomes a negotiation between self-exposure, statistical projection and the power to name.
