On a regular grid, 1,944 small motors rotate an equal number of metal discs. All receive the same current, but slight differences between their prepared wires produce individual speeds and friction patterns. An apparently shared surface emerges from these discrepancies: reflections, rhythms and minute variations form a field with no conductor. Zimoun makes the gap between a system’s order and material behaviour perceptible.
