An octopus, a flower, food and familiar objects rise in slow motion against blue sky. Things suspends their functions as much as their weight: each deformation makes supposedly familiar matter strange. At the Belvedere, the filmed sky meets the sky of a Baroque fresco; video introduces unpredictable earthly presence into an architecture of elevation.

Location: Carlone Hall, Upper Belvedere, Vienna, Austria, September 24, 2026–March 29, 2027. Video work made in 2018; the museum posted direct documentation of the new presentation on October 2, 2026.

Artist: Born in Herford in 1961 and based in Berlin, Asta Gröting works with sculpture, video and performance to make usually invisible physical, social and psychological relationships perceptible.
