Bigert & Bergström — Broken Greenhouse — Embodied Climate Futures (2025)

Five distorted greenhouses give inhabitable form to climate scenarios for 2100. Five distorted greenhouses give inhabitable form to climate scenarios for 2100. A cylinder turns slowly, misaligned walls and a fractured floor unsettle orientation: shelter ceases to be a neutral enclosure. In Broken Greenhouse — Embodied Climate Futures, Bigert & Bergström use space and materials to make tangible what an abstract model keeps at a distance. How can we live together when the conditions of habitation themselves become unstable and unequal?

Location: Accelerator and Bergius Botanic Garden, Stockholm University, Stockholm, Sweden, August 29–October 18, 2026. The project dates from 2025; Lars Siltberg’s film documents its presentation at Lund University Botanical Garden in 2025. The studio’s September 22, 2026 post shows the same greenhouses in the context of their current presentation.

Artists: Mats Bigert and Lars Bergström have worked together since the late 1980s, based in Stockholm. Their installations combine art, science, technology and environmental conditions with physical experiences often shaped by humour.
