Nine 7.5 cm screens turn a database into a wall sculpture. Big Data Poetry in 9 Pixels condenses fragments from Geert Mul’s work and image clusters generated by No-Ta-Ti-On, his 2010 software that could group millions of images without being given a category to find. The machine reveals that visual resemblance already carries a politics of classification.
This 2026 version formed part of Studio as a Collapsed Archive in Pixel Pioneers at Depot Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from April 25 to September 20, 2026. A Dutch media artist, Mul works with databases, machine vision and the cultural forms produced by digital systems.
The artist published the direct documentation on September 9, 2026.
