Marc Lee — 10.000 Moving Cities (2013–ongoing)

Identical cities change in real time through social-media feeds: globalisation experienced as the production of non-places.

Ongoing project, documented in this video in 2021. In 10.000 Moving Cities, Marc Lee builds cities with identical architecture whose façades are continually rewritten by geolocated social-media content. The visitor chooses a place, yet encounters a space that is both local and standardised. The installation turns information flow into urban material and asks whether a city can retain an identity under the pressure of global platforms.
