A willow fence winds through the meadow, interrupts the path and curls into a spiral. In Cordon Sanitaire, Rachel Loischild makes a boundary bodily: visitors can enter an enclosure and then leave it. The installation recalls the fences that isolated plague-stricken villages. A familiar material can protect those outside while abandoning those within.

Location and dates: Elaine and Philip Beals Preserve, Southborough, Massachusetts, United States. Art on the Trails: Time in the Landscape, June 13–September 13, 2026. This documentation of the now-dismantled installation was posted on Vimeo on September 30, 2026.
